In our hotel Copenhagen Plaza you will find a classic Copenhagen institution: The Library bar.

A fantastic setting that will remind you of times gone by. Sit down in a comfortable Chesterfield armchair and enjoy the best drinks in Copenhagen. The old noblemen on the oil paintings will have to confine themselves to looking – at you, and the book shelves along the walls, filled with leather-backs and first editions.

In the bar, there is also a big Wall of fame, telling stories of the notorious jetsetters of the past, and their grad and spectacular parties.

Music has always played a central part at the Library Bar, even though it is not considered as a music scene. The greatest love is the love of jazz, and often the bar is filled with tunes from our jazz house band. Small, intimate concerts for devoted jazz lovers.

The well-known Danish musician Thomas Blachman and his orchestra Ginman – Blachman – Dahl recorded their album At the Plaza – The Library Bar Concerts here. This album is the first in Danish music history to be published at the legendary jazz label Verve.

Champagne, cognac, whisky and cigars have been the hallmark of the bar since it first opened in the 70s. Before the smoking ban was imposed in 2007, the bar was known as the best cigar lounge in Copenhagen. Today, the cigars are gone, but single malts and champagne are still on the drinks list together with our main focus today – exquisite service & extraordinary cocktails.

Over the years, The Library Bar has been the setting for many music videos, receptions, photographs, movie scenes, interviews and many other events. If you are looking for the bar’s unique setting for your next event or entrance, please contact us, we are ready to help. The bar can only be rented outside the opening hours, however, the associated banquet can be rented locally for large parties or events during the opening hours where you can then open up to the bar.

If you want to arrange an event, our kitchen is more than helpful in setting up something that caters to your wishes, and of course the bartenders are ready behind the bar to make the signature cocktails of your choice.
